Brighton

We took a trip down to Brighton, which is on the southern coast of England a few weeks ago. Unfortunately we missed the hot weather. We had quite a windy and cold day down there. The pier is just a big amusement park with rides and game machines.

While we were in Paris, the mornings were quite chilly. We saw this pigeon warming up beside a hot air vent on the footpath. It was the funniest thing. And another picture of the Eiffel Tower at night.

Bonjour!

We of course went up the Eiffel Tower. After a long wait we finally made it to the top. Above is the view of the River Seine from the top. Below is us at the 2nd level of the tower.

Here we are at the bottom of the tower. It looks beautiful lit up at night. We paid a visit to the Louvre on our last day as well and saw the famous (but overrated) Mona Lisa.

Paris

Well we have just spent the long weekend in Paris! It was so nice. We did a lot of the tourist sights (as you do) and had a great (but very busy!) time. Above here is the Sacre-Coeur. We climbed up to the top of the dome and the view was great. Below is the Arc de Triomphe. We walked from here down the Champs Elysees to the river and saw Madonna as she was going into her hotel! A big crowd of people was there so we stopped to have a look.

Above is inside the Pantheon. It is a beautiful building, very impressive inside. And below is Notre Dame cathedral. They like you to try to speak as much French as possible so we gave it a go with our phrase book. But our pronunciation was a little rough and they just stared blankly a lot of the time. Points for trying though!

Oxford

We had a trip to Oxford a couple of weeks ago. It's a beautiful old town.
The copy of the famous Venetian Bridge of Sighs
We climbed up to the top of the church towers - gorgeous views of the old buildings and spires all over Oxford. Brett was a little too tall for the old staircase.

We had lunch at the Turf Tavern where this sign is mounted describing the efforts of our ex prime minister's beer sculling whilst he was a student at Oxford University. A yard glass in 11 seconds - quite impressive. Posted by Picasa

Tower of London

We went to the Tower of London a couple of weeks ago. It was surprisingly interesting. We spent hours there. The history of the place is intriguing.
We saw the crown jewels (including the largest cut diamond in the world!) and even the old torture devices! Talk about nasty!

Madame Tussaud's

Yes we did the tacky tourist thing and went to Madame Tussaud's. We even posed with all the "celebrities". It was good fun!
It was unbelievably busy! So many people wanting to see wax people - crazy!

London Eye

We are slowly making our way around to all the sights in London. Paid a visit to Harrod's.
And we took a trip on the London Eye. It was amazing. We were lucky - got a nice clear day and we could see for miles.

London Aquarium

Hey all. Just two pics here from the London Aquarium. It was good going there after scuba diving in Thailand. We got to see a heap of things here that we actually saw while diving. Our favourite was of course the nemo fish!
